Anyone have any ideas? Good teams? Good match ups? Players to watch?
Who's going to win?
NSCAA RANKINGS:
Two little east teams in the top 10.
Eastern Connecticut State University is ranked 4th after beating MIT and BABSON
Plymouth State is ranked 5th. (but their coach is on the committee.)
Eastern Connecticut should be strong again. Who knows if Keene will rebound after last season.
Odd early warning sign - both RIC and Keene have hit the ground running, collecting a lot of yellows and a red each. Did anybody see those games to know what happened?
Eastern CT looks strong. They have beaten some very good teams.
Plymouth state is doing work as well. Easily the biggest surprise this season so far. How long can they keep it going for?
RIC will definitely be good. THey are returning every starter but one. They had a tough loss to Steven's Tech at Stevens and only lost 1-0 in the 84th minute to a very solid team.
Keene state is still in the gray area for me. Not sure what to expect out of them. I wonder if they can truly "rebuild" from last year.
Don't let the 1-0 score in the the RIC @ Stevens game fool you. RIC was out shot 25-5. Stevens had the edge in corners 9-2 and the edge in posession by at least 90-10. RIC commited 16 fouls, 3 yellows, and a Red. The mjaority of fouls were for grabing on to guys to keep them from running pass them. Stevens kept shooting itself in the foot and missed a least 4 goals they should of had. The game should have never gone down to the 84th minute. I got to hand it to the RIC keeper he made 6 quality saves.
I had a feeling that it might have been that way. Stevens is very good. I appreciate that update, I was not aware of the complete domination by Stevens.
This weekend, undefeated Eastern CT takes on undefeated Ramapo from the South Atlantic Region, should be a good match. Wish they broadcasted online...
League play starts Saturday. Any predictions?
RIC over Dartmouth
Boston over Maine... it's a coin flip.
Eastern conn over Western conn
Plymouth over Keene
Any ideas?
I agree with your picks for this weekend, except for the maine-umass boston pick. I Think boston struggles this year, no zeqo no chance.
I saw UMass-Boston scrimmage Tufts a couple of weeks ago. Maybe UMass was missing some key players because they only had one on the bench, but they were not impressive at all.
Although, it was only 1-0 at the half, the final score was around 10-0 Tufts. The short bench definitely hurt UMass as it was a hot day, but unless they were playing rope-a-dope, I can't see them touching any of the better Div. 3 teams.
BTW, Tufts plays ECNU tonight at 7 pm. Tough road test for Tufts.
NSCAA rankings out today.
TWO little east teams in the top 10.
ECSU at # 2 in NE... 16th nationally
PSU at # 6 in NE
TUFTS v. Eastern tonight should be a good match up.
Any predictions?
Eastern is always a tough place to get results. They are extremely organized defensively, and play a nice brand of soccer. I anticipate that both teams will enjoy possession and the overall play will be pretty quality. I think the difference tonight will be Fantl for ECSU. His pace will be too much for the backline of tufts to handle. I think this one goes to eastern by a goal.
Eastern 3 Tufts 2
Fantl with 2 goals.
Eastern won in 2nd OT.
Does anyone else think Eastern is the real deal this year? 4-0-1 on the season.
Beat Babson, MIT, Tufts, and Westfield State, tied Ramapo who is currently undefeated.
Some interesting match ups today:
Boston v Fitchburg
southern maine v bowdoin
salem state-dartmouth
RIC - Clark
Western v westfield state
I'm most interested to see how RIC and Southern Maine do vs some pretty good opponents....any predictions?
RIC should try winning a game before they worry about how they do against "good" teams.
I'm pretty sure they played Steven's Tech earlier this year who is one of the "Best" teams in the country, and got out shot 25-5.
Well RIC shows they can win a game with a convincing win over Dartmouth 4-2...Some interesting results in a few other games yesterday...did anyone see any games or hear anything about them?
I was at the PSU - KSC match. Keene did not look like a team that has struggled to get results this year. It was a fairly even match for the first half, though Keene had several close opportunites. They would have been ahead if they could put the ball on net. I've not felt that Plymouth deserved their regional ranking. Another example of "put the undefeated team in the rankings because they haven't lost yet".
Second half changed things when Keene's keeper and PSU's striker were both red carded for a sdtupid series of events. PSU had little offensive punch following that.
Regarding what you said about the "put me in the rankings cause I haven't lost yet"... do you think Eastern really deserves their ranking?
